I grew up with a South African mother who was a varsity level wordsmith. Her British accent naturally commanded attention whenever she expressed herself, and much of my childhood was spent deciphering her words in daily conversation and the letters she wrote. The details she included and the infusion of emotions in her storytelling decorated my imagination and gave me a deep awareness of the intimate relationship between reader and writer.

My liberal arts education and a variety of employment experiences cultivated an ability to understand connections between people, themes, and concepts. I accepted positions that solved organizational challenges and often defined roles where none existed. I learned to find possibilities for growth or opportunities in a variety of settings. The common denominator between all my experiences was the power of effective and empathetic communication - both verbally and through the written word.

My Write Mentor grew out of my love of writing and deep belief in the power of the connection between the writer and the reader. My intention is to guide young people to find their voice in their writing and showcase their talents in the most authentic way possible.

When I’m not guiding young people on their writing journeys, I love being with my husband at our lake house in Maine or volunteering to care for adoptable dogs at a no-kill shelter. I enjoy a good game of squash, hiking mountains, and thrive any time I'm in nature. My heart is most full when spending time with friends and family, including my two young adult stepchildren and our pack of adopted dogs and cats.
